The story contained by Jerzy Samp in „Bedeker Gdański” is an interesting explanation of the origin of golden vodka. The Goldwasser legend quoted in the book says that its creation is due to the people of Gdańsk who recklessly threw gold coins into the famous Neptune fountain. Coins turned water into a noble drink.

Where did the gold flakes in the drink come from? The powerful god of water used his trident to transform money lying at the bottom into water. When one of the merchants noticed this, he quickly ordered the servants to fill all the barrels he had with the unusual liquid from the fountain. Then he placed the tanks full of liqueur in his own basements. In this way, the golden water became a source of wealth for him and subsequent generations of the family. The legend of Goldwasser, just like the drink itself, is known among the inhabitants of Gdańsk to this day!

For the third time, the editors of Forbes Magazine, culinary experts from the business world and experts from the For Solutions agency have created the only ranking that professionally and meticulously assesses the activities and business development of restaurateurs from all over the country. This time, innovations played the first fiddle.
 
This year, almost 200 names were taken into consideration, from which the jury selected the best fifty Restaurateurs Innovators. The jury is not just any kind, which should be emphasized – it included industry experts, foodies, business representatives, influencers and the best restaurateurs from the Forbes&FOR list from 2022 and 2023: Daniel Pawełek, Katarzyna Likus, Agnieszka and Marcin Kręgliccy, Piotr Popiński and Radosław Fronc.
 

How are Restaurateurs Innovators selected?

 
Any restaurateur could be included in the ranking, regardless of the type of cuisine they run: here, good ramen and burger places are not worse than fine dining. Courage and innovation were important to the jury. The Top 50 includes only those restaurateurs who have opened a new place in the last five years (in opposition to cutting off the coupons of well-established businesses); who focus on image freshness by investing in design, communication and menu; who can manage people’s work well, rely on new technologies and respect the environment, i.e. demonstrate and real action in the areas of knowledge of eco and sustainable development.
